Certification Program in Copenhagen

Marcel Schouv, Morten Andreas Hove, Per Bybjerg Petersen and Maja Klit Lindegaard from Denmark are the newest members of the Scandinavian Leadership “family” of facilitators in LOTS®.  During 6 intensive days of learning and practicing they went back to their organization to “go live”. We wish them all the best in their facilitations. The group will meet again in April for exchange of experiences and further development. Some comments from the participants:

- I think it is a good way to make sure that an issue is being reflected on different levels. A surprisingly holistic view.

- I think it has been a really interesting week and I have learned a lot of new tools that I can use in my work.

International Certification Program in Uppsala

Marta Karteczka from Poland, Jan Hartwig and Heiko Kain from Germany and Erik Nylén from Sweden recently attended a certification program in Uppsala. They were eager to learn to handle the tool of LOTS®, as they were to sharpen their leadership skills. The facilitator from Scandinavian Leadership shared his knowledge and experiences with them during 6 intensive days.

- One of the highlights were practicing “open questions”, says one participant, this will enable me to develop my team and increase their involvement.

Another participant says: - I really like the way of thinking Outside-in & Inside-out in a balance over time.

New Facilitators in LOTS®

Seven people from three different companies were nominated for a certification program in LOTS®. They were all certified on September 10 and are now back in their organizations to support their management teams in running the business. The new facilitators in LOTS® are Sara Ferringmark, Jeanette Arvidsson and Caroline Wigren from Collectum; Marina Carlsson, Madeleine Engstrom and Niclas Rehnqvist from LRF Konsult, and Magnus Bjork from Forum Syd.

It was much appreciated by the participants that the participants came from different kinds of organizations.

Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz - Inspiration and exchange of experiences

General Manager Robert Schmiel and his management team of Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz met with Hans Akerblom, the founder of LOTS® late July in Berlin for some inspiration and exchange of experiences. LOTS® is an important part of their culture and their leader development. Robert Schmiel is certified facilitator in LOTS® and more members of the management team will be certified.

Pharmacia Ophthalmics North America - reunion and update on reflections

The Pharmacia Ophthalmics team which presented Healon® to the United States and Canada met to reflect on the impact of their work after 30 years. Included in the festivities were members of the company and those who supported them. The group discussed the use of LOTS® in the development of the business and Dr. McDonald gave insight on the impact to Ophthalmology.

 
The Pharmacia Ophthalmics marketing team for North America met 30 some years after the introduction of Healon® in the United States. They were fulfilling the question in LOTS® of When will we update this plan? Team members in attendance were: Tom Wida, Phil Salimbene, Ilan Hoffman, John Dunnigan and Wes Domareki.

Certified facilitators at Klarna and Roche explore new opportunities

Georg Rydbeck of Klarna AB (second from left)  gives a tour of the new Klarna office building to (from left to right) Jacob Ahlsson of Roche Diabetes Care, Li Lindfors Skoog of Roche Diabetes Care and John Dunnigan of Scandinavian Leadership. This was part of the continued development days for certified facilitators in LOTS®.  The Klarna office building uses the most modern thinking available. The office building has almost no offices. It is build around getting people together in meetings to reflect and decide on key issues. Co-workers have no defined space and can locate each day in working space available in their section of the building. You find other people in meetings or by using GPS tracking on their cellphones. A fast growing business needs structure in its thinking but not in its office space.

Scandinavian Leadership Forum

Facilitators in LOTS® gathered at the World Trade Center in Stockholm to hear Jesper Ek, Managing Director of Roche Diabetes Care and Sebastian Siemiatkowski, founder and CEO of Klarna present how LOTS® helps them become more successful in developing their business.

The facilitators also had the opportunity to exchange experiences and ways of supporting their leaders. This program is part of a continuing series supported by Scandinavian Leadership.

Certified Facilitators keep on developing

Facilitators certified in LOTS® are continually developing their skills and knowledge in the application of LOTS®.  A group of participants spent three days in Berlin, Germany to learn new Reflection tools, review their facilitation skills and receive feedback from senior facilitators in LOTS®.  These development days are offered to all previously trained facilitators so they can stay at the top of their game.  Check with Maritza Adam (maritza@lots.se) to enroll in upcoming development days in Swedish or English.

Making the world a better place

Forum Syd, a Swedish non-governmental member organization working with people and people's rights, believes that only when people’s rights are being recognized will sustainable and long-term development take place. The work is conducted in co-operation with partner organizations in the local community to reach out to the population.

Anna Albinsson, manager of HR and Administration at headquarters in Stockholm, recently went to Forum Syd’s Cambodia office together with her colleague Maarit Gustavsson, to help them plan their work on location.

- “We feel that we have great use of our knowledge in LOTS®. We use it for every level in our organization and in March we had our very first planning session abroad, in Cambodia. Planning sessions with the remaining offices in Colombia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Belarus/Lithuania will follow shortly.”

Planning with people with different cultural background can be a challenge. However, the employees at Forum Syd in Cambodia, about 18 people, achieved a really good understanding of the process and all their current goals, activities etc. came together in one clear and very logical plan that follow the same structure as in the rest of the organization.

Before the planning session Anna Albinsson checked the participants’ expectations and their engagement level. After the three planning days they followed up on how the planning session had met their expectations and how much they felt that they had been engaged.
- “It is a very good way of making everyone feel the responsibility to contribute”, says Anna Albinsson.

Forum Syd, partner organizations in Cambodia and people’s involvement have led to one very concrete goal - more than a hundred families have finally been given the legal right to own and to use the land they have lived on for generations.

Inspiration and Exchanging Experiences

As facilitators knowing LOTS®, we sometimes feel the need to meet and discuss situations and concepts with other facilitators. Therefore, we invite you to another Scandinavian Leadership Forum for inspiration and exchange of experiences.

The forum will take place at the World Trade Center in Stockholm, Sweden, on June 10 from 10:00 to 16:00 with an opportunity for networking afterward.  The program will be presented for facilitators speaking Scandinavian. Further down you will see the program for the day. Take the opportunity to meet with facilitators from other organizations and learn from them.
